locked down in all the ways

I tried to send my taxes in early. Like a month ago, before the Covid-19 situation really had a bearing on anything, as far as I knew.

Last year, I was supposed to receive a whopping $89 back. At the time I didn't have a credit card, but after my taxes were accepted and processed by the IRS, using TurboTax, I received notification that I must super validate my id by using part of a credit card number, or a student loan number. If I didn't have either of those, I could send off for another sort of id to be mailed to my address. In order to do that I needed a phone in my name too. Don't ask.

So I gave up trying to get my 89 bucks.

This year, I have a credit card and a phone in my name (yay. really moved up in the world. lol ). So, in March I crack open the ole TurboTax and start the filing process. I complete all the info and e-file. I am supposed to pay the IRS $12.

30 minutes later I get:
Your federal tax return was rejected

This happens from time to time, but we're here to help.

I think, well, I have all of these extra ways of identification that I didn't have last year...
eye roll.
Now I need something called an IPPIN (Identity Protection PIN) to protect my account.
I have to call the IRS at a special extension to acquire this IPPIN.

THERE IS NO ONE AT THE IRS! (It's like that old Doors song, "YOU CANNOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER!!!" )

During all of this I decided to tweet (for the first time in months) and my twitter account has been suspended as well.

meh.

At least I have you guys. ;)
