Although it's not COVID, I'm still feeling moderately sick. I've basically had a fever of 99 or higher since the 13th. The rest of the symptoms are mostly gone or improved, at least. My dry cough is now very phlegmy, and not as common. I'm still having mild trouble breathing, but it has improved a noticeable amount. I can now carry a basket of laundry across a room before I run out of breath, where previously simply walking across a room would be enough to make me short of breath and turn my nail beds blue.
Based on the current rate of improvement I predict I should be back to normal within a week or so.
I have had surprisingly little anxiety. Maybe it’s because my anxiety stems from in-person human interaction, and I’ve had none of that. I’ll probably have some mega anxiety when it’s time to go back to work, but I’ll just have to deal with that if/when it happens.
My husband made me go out into the sunlight today, for the first time since quarantine started 11 days ago. He claimed it would be "healthy". It was terrible. Have I married a monster?
Still waiting on the results for my COVID test from that absolute shitshow yesterday. It's unnerving to realize that the numbers presented by the CDC and media are actually 24-72 hours behind, since that's how long it takes to get your test results.
I'm following directions like a good panda, and in quarantine.
I still feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. Which makes sense, since the doctor has declared I have a “mysterious viral lung infection”.
I just cannot get over that phrase he used. That’s a gem I’m going to be keeping for a while.
Today has been a hell of a day.
I woke up feeling extra shitty, so per the directions that the Department of Health has been spamming, I called the Coronavirus hotline for my state today. After waiting on hold for an hour and a half I was told that I definitely have the symptoms, and if I had travelled out of the country they would immediately test me based on my symptoms... but because I haven't travelled out of the country they cannot. Instead I was told to call 911.
I called 911, who proceeded to panic and send an ambulance.
The very nice EMT's said that the dispatcher definitely overreacted... but I do have all the symptoms so they were going to go ahead and take me to the ER and make sure I got tested and proper care. (They were super nice, especially after I explained that I was literally just following directions)
I was then transported to a negative airflow room. They did a fuckton of tests, including some chest x-rays. I was told that I have a "mysterious viral lung infection" (literally the doctor's words) and that I do not have a cold, the flu, or strep. He very carefully mentioned COVID, and explained that the tests for that have to happen in a different place, so I won't get the results until tomorrow at the earliest (it can take 24-48 hours). However, based on the x-ray and other test results they expect a full recovery from my “mysterious viral infection”. I was ordered to be under complete quarantine in my house, and to rest and hydrate.
I thought I replied to this, but it's completely dissappeared?
Breathing is not so good. I'm short of breath and my nails turn a little blue from minor things (like walking across a room, or picking up a pitcher of water).
Also, I realized that I didn't clarify. When I talked to the doctor about my cough he said for the most part covid coughs are unproductive, but it's not crazy to cough up phelgm if you do things like take a shower. Also, I'm not 100% diagnosed with it yet, since the test STILL hasn't come back yet. I am diagnosed with a "mysterious viral lung infection" that isn't the flu, cold, or strep.
