I'm surprisingly satisfied with how this place is shaping up. I'm kind of irritated it took so long considering this was supposed to be an August/September launch, but I get why it happened the way it did.

There's a bunch of features I want to add to this myself, but it's mostly fluff. I want an embedded discord channel, trophies, etc etc. Minor layout adjustments to group stuff as well. And Pal suggested some notifications for Ring activity, just a general notifier on the inbox page for stuff that's happening elsewhere on the site. I think that would be ideal as well. Personally, I want a streaming theater because I love that kind of thing, but this is all so, so far out of scope we'd have to do a second round of fundraising.

I'm obviously game for that, but I think it's a big ask considering a good number of the people who donated haven't actually used the site yet. I don't think we'd be able to raise another $1200 so quickly. Maybe next year, once the dust is settled and people have moved in. I'm torn between actively promoting it, and keeping it kind of intimate. I firmly believe that community size is equivalent to quality, and if we had 600 users here right now I'm not sure I have the controls necessary to moderate it.

Priorities for me are spam prevention-- IE keeping Russian and Chinese bot shit out of this place, and having some general groundrules about what's better suited for rings versus a blog.

Stuff to consider moving forward. Right now I'm just glad it's being used.

So I've applied to a couple of rings and haven't gotten approved. I applied within the first day or so. I don't know if they're just dead or if I was rejected or if there's an issue with approvals. Are rings working? If you get rejected would it be removed from your activity page or give you a notification or something? Maybe if the ring-leaders are inactive it should default after a set amount of time?

Edit: I lied. One of the rings accepted me, the other is just sitting.

If you get rejected it should in theory go back to being available on browse. But rings seem to be working totally fine, at least the ones I'm in.

They're totally at the control of the owner, I haven't got multi-admin set up yet so if the owner doesn't log on often or check it you could end up sitting in the queue to join forever.

I'll work on getting notifications set up for acceptance, it should be in the update to come. In theory.

I'm finally here.  I tend to favor the intimate feeling, especially for now, though I'm not sure that was intended to be a poll.

Oh, polls!  And forums!

No, not the forums.  Last time I suggested that, I killed MindSay and made Underground1986 angry.  Don't take my suggestions seriously.

I think the Rings do a good job at being the forums without the viagra/cialis spam, so that's a plus for everybody. And I'm with you on the intimate. At its height pre-myspace, Mindsay had ~75,000 registered users but it never really felt that way. I'm hoping even with some modest user growth we feel the same.

Forums was in jest, but a simple native poll option with radio or checkboxes might be fun, enabled in blog posts and rings might be fun.
